In Rebel One — RBL1’s Venture Capital & Angel Training Program:

The Rebel One — RBL1’s Venture Capital Training Program selects a competitive set of current and aspiring investors (angels and VCs) to train and gain experience of the inner workings of a venture capital fund. Trainees will gain investment experience of seeing how capital is allocated in live deals, develop a network with investors and have the ability to invest!

ROLE SUMMARY

The successful intern will work directly with the partner and other investment professionals to see the investment process from identifying startups and supporting fund raising process for an impact fund from limited partners. This role is meant for individuals that are extremely entrepreneurial, have their own startup, or are interested in angel or venture capital investing after graduation.

In summary: Project Management

LEARN HOW TO:

Research:

  • Undertake guided and independent research to identify new markets and industry sectors
  • Conduct in-depth business analysis to identify new competitive opportunities

Sourcing:

  • Outreach and screen new, relevant, and technology startups for investment purposes
  • Manage/document meetings with entrepreneurs and general deal flow
  • Represent a venture capital firm at industry events/conferences and support the local entrepreneurial community through active involvement

Investments:

  • Develop investment thesis, support/lead investment deal process from origination to execution, provide ongoing investment monitoring and reporting
  • Generate investment memos and present to investment committee by performing due diligence on team, market, product/technology, business model, risk factors, etc.
  • Evaluate potential investments in early stage companies through financial due diligence, market research, and competitive analysis
  • Observe partners and founders at investment committee meetings

Operations:

  • Support administration of the investor network including management of deal flow database, manage partners meetings, coordinate partner meetings, and follow-up with startups in review
  • Instruct, guide, and support Investor Training Program activities
  • Mentor start-ups on taking product to market, raising money, scaling, and other ad hoc business needs
  • Provide production/content support for events and management sessions

Undergrad Intern

ROLE

The successful intern will work directly with the partner and other senior investment professionals to see the investment process from identifying startups to deployment of capital. This role is meant for individuals that are extremely entrepreneurial, have their own startup, or are interested in angel or venture capital investing after graduation.

LEARN HOW TO:

Research:

  • Support market research guided by senior staff including identifying new markets, industry sectors, and competitive analysis of ventures
  • Conduct due diligence to support investment team

Sourcing:

  • Outreach and screen new, relevant, and technology startups for investment purposes
  • Manage/document meetings with entrepreneurs and general deal flow
  • Represent RBL1 at industry events/conferences and support the local entrepreneurial community through active involvement

Operations:

  • Support the generation of investment memos and the organization of activities related to due diligence
  • Support evaluation of potential investments in early stage companies through financial due diligence, market research, and competitive analysis
  • Support administration of the investor network including management of deal flow database, manage partners meetings, coordinate partner meetings, and follow-up with startups in review
  • Manage social media and and founder correspondence on behalf of the investment team
  • Provide production/content support for events and management sessions
  • Attend investment committee meetings with partners
